Naoussa is a well-known traditional fishing village, with the largest fishing fleet in the Cyclades. Dozens of fishing boats dock in its picturesque port, while the cosmopolitan marina accommodates numerous tourist boats from all corners of the world.
The port area beckons visitors to admire the so-called Kastelli. It is a castle of Venetian origin, which is well preserved to this day, and together with the nearby church of Agios Nikolaos, which is built by the water, they constitute one of the most distinctive viewpoints of Naoussa.
Naoussa is the place where one can get a taste of Paros at its most authentic. Traditional fish taverns, as well as restaurants with more sophisticated options, are located by the water and around the picturesque square – a hallmark of Cycladic architecture. Kakavia, crispy zucchini fritters and tomato fritters, chickpea soup, xinomyzithra cheese and ladotyri, spoon sweets, rafiolia, myzithra cheese pies and skaltsounia, accompanied by the aromatic souma, provide for a versatile menu with a combination of flavours that will satisfy even the most demanding palates!
Naoussa also offers numerous religious attractions. In the wider area, there is the monastery of Ai-Yiannis Detis, the monastery of Agios Athanasios, as well as the medieval church of Agios Georgios. The elaborate iconostases, the impressive frescoes and the scenic locations, cultivate a sense of reverence which hardly leaves anyone unmoved.
